"This DAY?"

Halie's thing this week and for the past little while is when she is talking about today she will say you mean "This Day?"

She asked Aunt Megan: Are you going home This Day?
She asked me: Is Pre School This Day?
: Are we going to Grandma's This Day?

I am not telling her that This Day would really be the word Today... we will let her figure that out on her own... its just to cute!

Get-Away-Today- OK!

The weekend before school started me, the kids, Tennille and Cooper decided to Get-Away to Mesquite! We had heard of the new Roller Skating Rink and Micah has been begging to go. We checked into the hotel... and headed over for a night of Roller Skating fun!

Happy they are all standing!
Halie trying to figure these things out!

Micah in his own Roller Skates loving life!
Mom of the year! (ha ha far from it!)
Halie kept falling and she just laughed & laughed and got back up!
Tennille and Cooper!
That is Happy!

Wow... this was fun! Skating backwards... bending over!
Still figuring it out! Soon she took the skates off and ran, pulling me and
Micah around the rink!

Then... back to the hotel pool! Late night fun!
Thumbs up!
I think it was still 100 degrees at 10 at night!
The monkeys in the hot tub!

We stayed the night... woke up and went back to the pool for more fun! We stayed for hours swimming... entertained by some crazies at the pool! It was great!
A nice way to top off the summer with friends!

~Summer Fun~

Ready... Set... BOWL!
These ^ might be the funniest pictures I have taken! It was so cute watching her bowl!
Getting the game set up!
Look at those bowling moves! He got a SPARE!
Trying to get her cute little fingers in the right holes!
Nothing like the granny bowl!
And she couldn't believe it... A SPARE!

Just thought this was cute!

We had a fun night of bowling! It was fun seeing the kids bowl for the first real time
(not on the wii) Micah thought it was so fun bouncing the ball off the bumpers, and Halie just tried to get the ball to reach the pins!

Pre School

Halie's First Day of Pre School!

Thrilled it was finally her turn to wear her new clothes...
Put on her new backpack and go to school!
Micah still not convinced that school is cool!
Halie trying to get Micah to crack a smile!

Come on brother it will be fun!
When did this happen???? They are both going to school!
We will skip over Micah going to school this morning since it included lots of tears ...
and go straight to...
Halie being a big girl and walking in all by herself!
With no tears!
Just big smiles!
Who couldn't smile with these cute teachers! Grandma Smith & Ms. Julie!
...and the pre school has a doll house... can't beat that!
And this was her when I picked her up... she came running over roaring like a lion!

Our discussion on the way home...

Me: Halie how was preschool?
Halie: Good!!!
Me: What did you do?
Halie: We just did homework!
Me: Was it so much fun?
Halie: YA!
Me: What was your favorite part about preschool?
Halie: We got to say everybody's names and say hi to each other!
Me: Did you meet any friends?
Halie: Ya... like Kiley, but not like my cousin Kiley, it's a different one.

Random thoughts she told me:

Halie: Some people didn't have their name on their backpack,
I was the only one that bringed it!
Halie: Some people wore their jams to preschool, I think it was pajama day!

I love this girl! She cracks me up! But most of all I am so proud that she was
so brave and went without giving me a heart attack!

Ok... So maybe I bribed her with this
"Big Old Baby"
that she has wanted from Walmart...
She came straight home and we got out Halie's baby clothes and started playing dress up!

SO I decided I will let her go to pre school but....
I DON'T WANT THEM TO TEACH HER A FEW THINGS...
... Like how to say the 'R' sound
I don't want her to say words correctly.. she says MAG-ZA-DENE for magazine... and bringed instead of bring....I don't want that to change!
I don't want her spunky personality to change...
I don't want her to like boys!
I might be ok with her learning her letters, and maybe writing her name...
but please don't change my cute little girl!

Oh Boy... FIRST GRADE!

First day of First Grade!?
I knew I would cry
... but I didn't think he would cry everyday since the first day of school!
It all sounded good... 3 recesses, lunch at school, best First Grade teacher....
New clothes, new shoes....
A new backpack...
Maybe even a break from Halie sounded good!

Then we arrived at school... and it took all the courage he had to take this picture with his teacher!
And sitting at his little desk was about all he could handle! When I went to leave... he came crying and clinging to my leg! It was horrible!

Probably one of the hardest days as a mom! How do you make your terrified child stay at school all day! Not knowing how they were? I had to... and it was awful... I had to take him to the office and leave him with the counselor... Micah was crying, I was crying, it was AWFUL to say the least. It was a horrible day... a long day... and I finally got to rescue him at 3:30, and there he was smiling. It wasn't as bad as he thought...
atleast until the next morning!

Day 2 of school, he thought he was sick, he cried and cried, and I had to drag him, terrified, shaking to school and leave him again! This time it was worse! An hour after I had left him, he called from the office begging me to pick him up! I told him I couldn't until school was over and told him I loved him and said goodbye holding back every tear i could... again horrible!
Day 3 was a little better because it was a half day... and he got to have pizza. We met the counselor at the gate and she walked him in, and gave him a smooth worry stone that he could put in his pocket and rub when he was nervous! He came home from school and told me {sigh} "Mom I just kept wanting to cry, but then I would just rub this little rock and then I would stop!"

It has been so trying as a mom! I can't handle this stress! It literally ripped my heart out leaving him at school! Tomorrow is Halie's first day at preschool alone, and I have the tissues and the diet coke ready!

Root Beer Float Tradition!

More lost pics....
On the first day of school growing up we would always have a ROOTBEER FLOAT PARTY! Might be the only time during the year we have them, but it's tradition and we have kept it going! So we invited a bunch of kids over to help celebrate the start of the new school year!
L>r Dylan, Sydney, Avery, Halie, Avery Ott, Taylor, Kelsee, Maycee, Micah, Camden
Micah made his own Rootbeer Float Stand! Who needs lemonade?

The kids ran a muck outside and had a great time!
Cheers to Rootbeer Floats and First Days of School!

Where does the time go...

And where did these pics go! I am in the "Nesting" stage and might be cleaning everything floor to ceiling.. including clearing pics off my computer... I have found so many random cute ones that I have never blogged... so bear with me while I catch up! :)

The night before the First Day of First Grade...
We were able to go to an Open house at Micah's school!
We arrived... Micah a little nervous but excited
to see his classroom and meet his teacher!
They put Micah right to work on a scavenger hunt of the classroom finding all the important places he would need to know for the first day of school!
Getting so big!
